The first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the “Post of Russia”, which was supposed to deliver a parcel from Ulan-Ude to the village of Nizhny Sayantui, located 15 km from the launch site, crashed right after take-off, FlashSiberia correspondent reported.
The launch ceremony was attended by the head of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov and the General Director of the “Mail of Russia” Nikolai Podguzov. Earlier it was reported that this is the first flight to deliver mail with the help of UAV in the history of the “Russian Post”.
“I am very glad that today we are launching this project, which should become a success,” ~ Podguzov said before launching the UAV.
After take-off, the drone crashed into an apartment building, there were no casualties. According to representatives of the postal service, one of the reasons for the wreck of the UAV could become wi-fi-points, which were “knocked off” by the apparatus. UAV is not subject to recovery.
Some Russians were joking, that the drone was heavier than air. Russian Post service has been the object of jokes and memes for a while, due to its slow delivery times and lost parcels.
