Trokai is an interesting case. Some historic chronicles suggest the coats of arms were columns of Gediminas — what you saw on the picture. Gediminas was a grand duke of Lithuania and an important historic figure. Other historic sources suggest CoA of Trokai was Pahonia. Trokai castle is an old residence of some grand dukes of Lithuania. That’s probably how Trokai voevodship CoA was associated with Gediminas columns.

I don’t know what the symbol means. According to the legend the CoA was brought to Lithuania from Rome by Palemon. Unlikely, this is true. A Palemon is the mythical founder of the dynasty of Lithuanian princes who came to Lithuania from Rome.
