@Dušan, gratitude should only be towards the Partisans that fought for Croatia specifically i.e. those that adhered to the goals laid out by Zavnoh and not Avnoj. These partisans weren’t communist ideologues with blood and butchery on the agenda like the general Yugoslav partisans but rather fought to liberate their towns and villages from mostly Italian fascists (who enlisted a lot of Chetnik help) and even against the Ustase on occassion though much less so since the Ustase had little authority over large swaths of Dalmatia in particular which was an Italian zone. Fascist states could not function in post WW2 Europe but democratic ones could and there is no logical reason to assume Croatia could not as well. 

Croatia would’ve likely been a social-democratic state rather than a right wing state in any sense but still independent.
