@anna25 is actually right, “Slav pride” really isn’t a thing with most Croats and even to this day a lot of us consider Germans closer friends than most Slavs. In a political/historical context, a lot of us will look more favorably on our shared history with German-Austrians than our place in the Slavic family. All to often ‘Slav’ is conflated with the political entity known as Yugoslavia and that’s definitely not a welcome label by most Croats. An exception are the Poles. Croats will gladly point out their Slavic and Catholic similarities with the Poles and embrace them as a nation.
