Let’s go to another example.
On the mountain of Kissavo there is a village that its name was Retsiani (changed to “Metaxohori” by greek state at around 1930). Still some old people that live there remember the original name. In the middle of the village passes a small river (riječni / rečni), as you can see in the video below.
Close to Arta, Epirus, there is a place called Retsiana, where you also find a small river.
The funny thing is that the greek state did not change the name of this place and it is still called officially with its original name. WTF? They didn’t get that it is slavic? It was pretty easy i think.
You also find this word, as a last name, in Thessaly.
