why ‘Polish mushroom’ (Boletus badius) is called Polish. I am not sure if this information is accurate. In older day
Poland was exporting this mushroom to European countries. Polish
mushroom resembled Baravik (Boletus edulis) , so people decided to
distinguish the two giving the name to Boletus badius ‘Polish
mushroom’. The other names for Polish mushroom are karyčnievy hryb
(brown mushroom), panski (derived from Pan) hryb. Polish mushroom is
not as popular in Belarus. People don’t take it home whejn there are
other mushrooms available.
