@Kat i genuinely didn’t pay any attention to tattoos in my life i actually didn’t care so logically idk what they have tattooed on them. That being said most of the ppl of those generation i know don’t have them so it wasn’t like super widespread. That being said i read some topics about it. It seemed the army tattoos were usually; name tattoos, army service date tattoos, the military branch & battalion tattoo, tattoo of your lover, etc. According to the article the tradition stretches back to the Ottoman-Habsburg wars when some Habsburg troops tattooed. The logic behind was danger of switching sides.
