I agree that Eurovision songs are generally awful and this type of music is not my preferred type of music. However, this song contest remains popular across Europe and even the world. If it has to exist, I always hope for a Slavic winner just for the attention.
Of course, I would love a European song contest where the contestants sang in their native languages, dressed in national folk dress, and performed folk-inspired songs using musical instruments native to their country of origin. I don’t see that happening, sadly.
Bulgaria’s entry this year is a major improvement over Ukraine’s 2007 entry, which unbelievably attained SECOND PLACE. WHAT MADNESS! Crazy that happened. :p
Sounds to me like Verka is singing “Russia Good-bye.” Anyway, if Polka music and Disco music married and had a baby, it would be this song.
