Very interesting thread I must say,
When I read how I2 was only 2800 years old and the probable result of a sudden expansion I assumed that meant the people bearing I2 were just a different group who shared the same culture and identity as Slavs regular R1a carriers. Perhaps their even descendants of the Dacians who lived in the northern regions where I2 is found – but addopted Slavic culture after theirs was destroyed. It just seems it can't be Illyrian becuase that haplogroup orriginated in central/southern Poland and made its way south, around the times the Slavic migrations were believed to have happened. Idk what more to say its a tough subject, those were simply my thoughts on it.
