The Dutch/Belgian villages of Baarle-Nassau (NL) and Baarle-Hertog (BE) are really crazy. The border runs through streets and houses!
In the past cafés and restaurants in Belgium had to close earlier than the Dutch restaurants, so in case of these villages, restaurant owners moved the tables from the Belgian side of the restaurant to the Dutch side :P
Needless to say, there also used to be a lot of smuggling going on in these villages.

It is closely linked, with complicated borders, to the Belgian exclaves of Baarle-Hertog.[1] Baarle-Hertog consists of 26 separate pieces of land. Apart from the main piece (called Zondereigen) located north of the Belgian town of Merksplas, there are 22 Belgian exclaves in the Netherlands and three other pieces on the Dutch-Belgian border. There are also six Dutch exclaves located within the largest Belgian exclave, one within the second-largest, and an eighth within Zondereigen. The smallest Belgian parcel, H12, measures 2,632 square metres.
