Not true, in St. Louis (South City/South County) there is a pretty large Bosnian immigrant population (70k) and you can find Rakija that is made locally or imported from the Balkans (Badel, Sokolova etc) in a variety of flavors, both, at smaller Bosnian shops and in larger grocery stores like Schnucks and Shop n Save. Its usually in the international/Bosnian food aisle. Probably same with Chicago as it has a decent Bosnian population and pretty large Serbian one. If you do end up getting some I would recommend getting some Sudzuka (dried spicy sausage) or Suho Meso (dried meat) to go with the Rakija.
