Of course not. Most countries have managed this. Even Turkey. But not the US (where religion of the political candidates is always called into question) and Israel (the apartheid Jewish-ruled state). Not coincidentally, the US and Israel are as close as political allies get and for the US this is not the best of strategic relationship, thus there are some other fundamental forces at work here. Given the Zionist lobby, AIPAC, there is clear cult fanaticism and zealotry at work here even if it is dressed up to look secular.
