I knew some 'Russians' who wore hammer and sickle in Highschool but they were neither ethnic Russia, Slavic, nor European.  As to the Faux Cyrillic, that's usually the same as this Che-Hippie stuff.  Even though, both Stalin and Che would have loved to put those Hippies to work on a hydroelectric dam somewhere in the bush.
