Yeah, the guy was Prussian so he was probably by origin and his roots a Slavic Wend (as most of east Germans).

Aha thx, that explains it. I checked it out. He was born in Königsberg. This means that there is big chance that he had Masurian origin. Masurians themself were protestant Poles who populated devestated parts of south Prussia. So my guess is he was Germanized Masurian. Anway he looked realy ripped considering era he lived in;
