Aye, we had (and still have) those here as well – I still keep my remaining ones in a box specially for them. And the practically universal opinion is that they were/are much better than the current mass-produced ones. Nonetheless, I remember watching a news story a few years ago about the last remaining “factory” in Bulgaria where they’re still making them, but due to how very fragile they are and also quite more expensive, it’s an uneven fight with the Chinese imports (then again, considering the Chinese are even making our martenitsas, it’s not so surprising).
