No dude. The rules haven’t changed. If you want a strong independent industrial nation you have to expand. In the 19th century it was through collonialism, these days it’s through globalization and “open markets”. In both cases only the colonial power profits while the colonised get de-industrialisation, corruption and political insignificance.
