I know what it all could mean, but in politics autonomy is this:

An autonomous area or autonomous entity is an area of a country that has a degree of autonomy, or freedom from an external authority. Typically it is either geographically distinct from the rest of the country or populated by a national minority. Countries that include autonomous areas are often federacies. Autonomous areas can be divided into territorial autonomies, subregional territorial autonomies and local autonomies.

And this is what I was talking about: Russians recognized the Polish right to autonomy and allowed formation of the Polish National Committee, which supported the Russian side in war. Russian foreign Minister Sergei Sazonov proposed to an autonomous Kingdom of Poland with its own internal administration, religious freedom and Polish language used in administration. That Poland would receive eastern area of Poznan region, southern Silesia and Western Galicia.
