In Ukraine and other countries of former USSR people celebrate 8th of March – the international women’s day. It’s more popular than Valentine’s Day.
After de-communisation the Ukrainian government decides on removal the 8th of March from public holidays seeing it as a Soviet relic. The celebration of 8th of March lost any political significance a long time ago. It became people’s celebration, so people may continue celebrating it regardless of the government’s decision.
