I agree with that. I believe in all countries who had Austrian education system (gimnazije) and probably Northern Slavs, we speak our mother tongue, learn standard language in school, learn at least 2 foreign languages (plus some had Latin or Latina and ancient Greek) and now it's even 3 foreign languages. And some people learn more languages on their own. So your mother tongue language in elementary schools shouldn't be a problem, since you can hear it everyday and practice easier than English/German/Spanish/Italian/Russian etc…  :D

True though I like to say that here the first foreign language you learn is standard Slovenian ;D
