First sentence was about Serbia being a Russian first pawn to be thrown into game but nevermind. Yet again, Pan-Slavism was a propaganda tool used by none other than Russia towards Southern Slavs. Bigger picture was old Monarchies wanting more territories and an excuse to attack anyone. Although Pan-Slavism sounds good, even I would greet it but not in the kind what it did in the last 200 years (being pushed around and taken by Serbia or Croatia from Berlin COngress ti Kingdom of Yugoslavia). Due to the “always a victim” status of Serbia and their expansionistic ideals, union with “free-brothers” was never an option for us. Even now these ideals persist, although war seems impossible as people is tired of warmongering, for me Gavrilo remains a chessboard pawn and neither a terrorist nor liberator.
