@Sviatogor Hah, the good old compromise, it seems reasonable. I would say the south Slavic languages could be divided into west southern (Slovene, Kajkavian and Čakavian, closer to west Slavic languages) and east southern (Štokavian, Macedonian and Bulgarian, closer to east Slavic), although it would be hard to establish a clear line where one group ends and the other one begins.
How close would you say Bulgarian is to Ukranian?
