Tatjana specifically mentioned that the Macedonian dynasty hailed from the Greek theme of Macedonia, which is not to be confused with modern Macedonia. Here:
“Emperor befriended Basil Macedonian, a horse tamer of humble peasant origins from the Greek Theme of Macedonia (not to be mistaken with today’s FYROM).”
Of course, she could have also mentioned that the Greek theme of Macedonia was centered around Adrianople and that the dynasty itself was ethnically Armenian, but in any case she clearly doesn’t connect them with modern Macedonians (and thus also clearly doesn’t imply that Basil II and Samuil were leading a civil war or something). As for the rest of that post – meh, try better next time.
