Some factual mistakes and a misrepresented picture, but overall bretty good. What you thought was Basil the IInd is actually an artist’s rendition of Simeon (who became the first “Czar” – a corruption of Caesar – i.e Emperor) as you can tell by the rampant lion on his livery. Funny how an article about Byzantium features the guy who kicked roman arse on the front page. Also, the blinded folks were Samuil’s captured soldiers (NB – this is why you should never surrender), nor random villagers.
