Pan or rather Yugo Slavism had its peak after WWI with the Stamboliyski government. Don’t know if these guys were gelded or what, but I imagine every man who had his balls intact would’ve viewed joining your former enemy so soon after a defeat in war as treason and humiliation … which probably contributed to the fate of Stamboliyski and his Agrarian Party a little later.
You could say yugoslavism in Bulgaria came off to a bad start … Which is a shame, because it could’ve been a workable foundation for a stronger and more independent state – kinda like the 1st Bulgarian Empire.
