I don’t really think it matters on whether the kolovrat as seen today was common in the past or not. An artistic and natural worldview such as the native Slavic faith fosters and creates room for the creativity and innovation of multitudes of variations for symbols and rituals. Religion isn’t something that stays in the past, but is something that continues to develop and grow. We can say that our ancestors definitely used the symbol of an eight-spoked wheel, as there is historical evidence of this. In Vedism-Hinduism the eight-spoked wheel of life is called dharmachakra.
