That is funny actually because that “magyarish” tone is a product of mixing Slovak with Serbian  And it has only a little to do with the areas of Slovakia they came from, because if you compare Slovaks in Serbia+Croatia with Slovaks in Hungary and Romania (the same migration into 4 diverse areas), all of them have different accents. Slovaks in Serbia and Croatia have South Slavic accent, Slovaks in Hungary have hard Magyar accent which is different from that from Serbia. And surprisingly, Slovaks in Romania have kept their Slovak without any accent and speak like my grandma (as far as I’ve heard them).

Yep, right. You as a person who doesn’t speak Serbian nor Croatian can hear that Serbian accent better than Serbs and Croats.
