In north-east some people say: віном ежу запіваюць, а водку закусваюць.
I am not sure how to translate it accurately. It means that you drink wine after eating food, but you eat food after drinking vodka. The order is different. People like to eat pickled cucumbers or pickled mushroomс after drinking vodka. Then again a lot of cold lean food can be eaten after drinking vodka, such as shopska salata. I suppose it’s same for rakija as it’s a strong alcoholic beverage.
Anyway here is a very short video of shopska salata Bulgarian style presented by a Belarusian guy. I can’t guarantee the authenticity.
