No matter what people want to believe, communism didn't fall apart for some divine reasons, wish for democracy, not even for subversive actions from the west. It was for tragic incapability of it's economy. Simply, communist countries couldn't provide bare necessities for their own population.

That's for communist countries, but Ex-Yu was hardly that one, we were more like South-American "operetta – dictatorship" with strong personality cult. We had some (even significant) components of market economy – therefor was inevitable for the west to include fatal factor of ethnic/religious hatred in it's demolition. Sloba had lived in New York as "Beobanka" executive for years before he came in power in Serbia, can't believe people don't know that.

Think not many people are really nostalgic, and for sure nobody idealize Ex-Yu, that's only a kind of reality shock.
