@NikeBG because the name is being chosen specifically for international purposes. Czechs would never call their country czechia in their own language. So if you are going to choose a name for the rest of the world to use in english at least choose one that sounds good to english speakers and wont cause them to view you as a country in the caucuses some where. Austria is the historical latin name for the country, confusion cant be avoided, the same with slovakia and slovenia. Unfortunatley the names are similar in whatever language, but if you can avoid international confusion why not.
