I can safely say that Protestants pay far, far, far, FAR more attention
(and I just can’t stress this enough) to studying the Bible than
Orthodox Christians. I mean, heck, most “Orthodox” here haven’t even
opened a Bible in their life (and are pretty much Christian only by name
and by that fabled tradition)!
I don’t think I know many Orthodox Christians who own a Bible at all.
I see knowing Bible verses by heart as an obsession.
You don’t have to know the Bible to be a Christian. If you’re a good person by Christian standards, then you don’t need the Bible at all.
Of course various churches have various opinions on this.
