@saltycola of course, especially since it was 300 years ago. Slovakia which is now 90% Catholic had Protestant majority at the time for example. Then again ancestors of our (Pannonian) Rusyns came here in mid 18th century and vast majority of them are Greek Catholic. Our ancestors (Slovaks) came in pretty much the same period and we are mostly Lutheran (ECAV, that is SEAVC in Serbia), although there are Roman Catholics and some other protestant denominations too.
In any case being “very Catholic” is kind of Croatian thing and since Ikač surname is still present in Croatia I wouldn’t exclude that possibility either.
