Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special. Hygge (or to be “hyggeligt”) doesn’t require learning “how to”, adopting it as a lifestyle or buying anything. Hygge is cosy time with family and friends. Hygge is the meaning of life.
We southern Slovaks have a word for this:
When something is good, positive, wonderful, etc, it’s fasa in southern Slovak.
It’s not even hard to pronounce. Just fasa.
While the word is an adjective and an adverb, it’s derived from genitive or accusative case of noun fas, meaning dick.
It comes from Hungarian fasz:
I felt fasa at the bar.
