We can pick cognates in Lithuanian and Latvian. For example, ezhik – ežiukas – hedgehog, led – ledas – ice, snieg – sniegas-snow. Many other. We opened a topic on cognates once. It was a surprise the number of cognates between Baltic and Slavic languages. Not all cognates are obvious.

Lithuanians have Slavic like mentality. Latgalians too. Despite both are Roman Catholic. Latvians probably have little less Slavic like mentality than  Lithuanians and Latgalians due to long association with the Germans.
