Why you will regret this article:
International conversation about Tesla: Free Energy, Energy Transportation, Brilliant Mind, Contributions to Humanity etc.
    Balkan conversation about Tesla:
    Person #1: SERB!
    Person #2: CROATIAN!
    and endless debate following that.

Looking at the comments on Facebook and that Tesla quote on the end of this article…wow he really did have a point. Serbs and Croats are a solution to endless power supply system.

Normal people don’t become great scientists. Or great anything else for that matter.

Sorry, but Nikola Tesla WAS NOT a Croatian or American inventor and scientist. He was Serbian inventor, and his father was an Orthodox priest(you will agree that this has nothing common with America, also Orthodoxy almost has no connections wit Croatians). Its bond with Croatia is that he was born in a place that now belongs to Croatia, but then belonged to the Austro-Hungaria and was inhabited by Serb people. I am very proud of what the many appropriated because it shows how great inventor and a man he was, but it is necessary to be known that he was a Serbian nationality. But also he was a Slav!

@slavserbia how was he a Serbian inventor? He was a Serb, no doubt about that, but how was he a Serbian inventor? He was born in Kingdom of Croatia (within Austro-Hungarian Empire) where he got his basic education. He got his further education in Graz (present day Austria) and Prague (present day Czech republic). While studying he applied two times for Matica Srpska scholarship, both times he was rejected. He visited Serbia one time in his entire lifetime, in 1892, when he was already recognized as an inventor and he stayed here for only two days. Serbia gave nothing to him. Austro-Hungarian Empire provided education, USA provided conditions and opportunities for his greatest inventions.

I’m not saying Serbs shouldn’t be proud of him, you should, but you shouldn’t be so exclusive when talking about him. Tesla surely spins like a propeller in his grave when Serbs and Croats start debating about him. Discuss his work not his place of birth and ethnicity if you truly are proud and want to honor him.

Nikola Tesla was born in Austria-Hungary, not in Croatia. His house and the Serbian Orthodox Church were destroyed by Croats in World War II, and you put that Nikola Tesla Croat?

Tesla was born in Kingdom of Croatia, which was under AU empire. Nobody said he was a Croat. He was a Croatian Serb. Idiots and ignorants cannot accept the facts. @Dušan said it all.
And @SV “His house were destroyed by Croats…” But you didn`t said that Croats build him a memorial center and museum.
Like always, only semifacts are intruduced.

To, da li sam ja “truly proud of him” sam objasnio ranije i ni o tome ne treba voditi pricu niti preispitivati iznesene cinjenice.
    Pozdrav,

Tesla was certainly a fascinating figure. I remember reading in a Tesla biography how he conducted a thought experiment as a child where he traced every one of his thoughts to the point of inception, and realized everyone of them ultimately derived from an external stimuli. From there he concluded some of the same things behaviorist psychologists and computer scientists would take decades more to think of.

We use English here because admins insist on it. Many people who visit this forum don’t speak any Slavic language and admins want to make all of this globally available .

I use Serbian language for writing. It belongs to the Slavic group of languages and I think that is not inappropriate to use it on this site because it enables site visitors to learn more about the Slovene culture, through language. Although this site provides the same thing.
