I came across a book which maybe of interest to forum members. The book was published more than 100 years ago in English.
An excellent description of Macedonian traditional customs, habits and popular beliefs, written in the last decade of Ottoman rule and shortly before Macedonia was liberated and included within the boundaries of mother Greece. Being descended from one of those Macedonian territories(Serres) visited by G.Abbott in early 20th century and whose folklore has been so vividly and picturesquely described by him, I am really fascinated with reading about some of our native costums and traditions with which I have grown up and which have been passed down to us from generation to generation from time immemorable.Especially when the origin of some of them is clearly traced back to similar ancient Hellenic costums and practices.June 8, 2015 at 12:21 pm #428053
So this is only about the Greek/Aegean part of Macedonia?
