As regards our Croatian coat of arms,
Why is the the first field of the checkerboard switched from white to red ( vice versa) throughout history. Is there any meaning? I heard a lot of theories. Anyone have a more substantial explanation?March 27, 2014 at 9:06 pm #430513
1883. Croatian parliament decided that first field in croatian coat of arms, šahovnica, is white. Their opinon was that that was a traditional way to present šahovnica, even though both versions are historically accurate.
