He is such a known artist. Chances are very high that we had his illustrations in one or two books.

I'm asking you because in my dictionary of slavic mythology I have his drawings, but they are small and in black and white. So I imagined that if even in Romania some of his drawings are used, then in Ukraine and Russia every child has/ had a book with his illustration.

Speaking of what you posted, the third image reminds me of Disney  ;D

old Serbian fairy tales in English. I had the privilege growing up with them in their original oral form, namely they were told by my grandfather to my father, which then told them to me. I know them in a slightly different version, which is normal when inherited from generation to generation. :)

If one takes time to read some of them, one will see where Jacob Grimm found inspiration for some of his fairy tales. Jacob Grimm and Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, the father of modern Serbian (as well as Croatian, Bosniak, Montenegrin), who was the first to put the Serbian folk fairy tales on paper, were good friends.

Guys, I'm proposing you to continue this discussion on Movies from Slavic countries. I posted other movie inspired by Gogol and I need you help. I'm glad that you both like Viy and it is nice to see 2 versions of the same story, so thanks Cvetinov for this.
Kudesnik, I'm waiting for the movie that you promised.

There is so much to choose from and I have a little dilemma in selecting movies. On one hand, I want to pick a movie that I like, on the other – I am trying to select something that is more appropriate for this forum. Such as a movie that accounts for historical events or based on a book from classical literature.
