I'm born in Italy and I still live there, my family run away during the 90' war in Italy, however I have negative opinion of a big part of them, not only because of the "Irredentismo" story, alas even if I try to be a true citizen they treat me like a sort of garbage, I don't talk about the people I know, but administrators, workers at the foreign-acceptance and even workers at small supermarkets when they hear me speak in croatian, with my family or with my other Croat friends, they change completely behaviour they start to treat me like they want just to kick me out of their shop or as it happen to my friend that just came to study in Italy, and he is Croat too, the worker at the foreign-acceptance started to treat him like he was an idiot, leaving him six hours there, when he called me and I started speaking in his name they become more accepting and friendly, even if I had to yell first to them because I knew their behaviour towards foreigners to get my friend's residency permit.
However the only thing I'm still surprised is about their hate between northerns and southerns I mean I know that even in Croatia there's a hate between Dalmatians and the people from Zagreb and even in many other countries there is northern-southern but the hate in Italy is very felt and sometimes reaches catastrophic levels.

I generally like Italians but I have noticed that when the question is about their genetic background they immediately go pointing fingers at Eastern Europeans and say something that amounts to "Well we are more European then they are"  ::). I think some of them are just insecure people when it comes to their genetic backgrounds.

Hate to quote myself but I found an Italian on Youtube the other night who looks down on Slavs because I suspect he is angry that Youtube is full of "are Italians White?" videos. Funny because the people who make those videos are most likely Germanic in origin. Would post his account but don't want to give this clown anymore attention.

That's true but it was already used by TIGR before the actual war.

I have an off topic question.
I read on Wikipedia that after WW2 TIGR was wiped from the history by the Communist Govt. of Jugoslavia and were not really liked by Jugoslav Communist leaders.
Why is that? Were they not pretty much fighting for the same goal as the Jugoslav Partizans?

Many such groups were targeted by communists regardless if they had same or similar goal. TIGR was disbanded some joined Partizans some were eliminated others didn't want to join.

The hatred is logical. Yugoslav Partisans liked to say they were the first and only resistance fighters in Yugoslavia. But as we know they were established in 1941, after the april offensive (also the Četniki were established a short time before them). And if you're the group that's gonna claim land that isn't inside the countries borders – in this case in Italy – you sure won't be happy of a rival group that was doing his job since 1927! Though it was stupid, they probably thought that TIGR members could opose them after the war or simply be an argument for the oponent sides. Afterall, if you're the one who has liberated the country alone, you could easily claim the reign over it. But if you weren't…  … then you aren't that legitime afterall.

And there were other reasons for sure too. It is sad that we learn almost nothing at school about TIGR. I bet some profesors don't even mention them. :(

Oh I see, guess that is logical.
    Thanks for clearing that up!

Well I'm sorry but that's not a valid reason to dislike Italians :D You came there as an immigrant, and I think it's their very own prerogative to treat immigrants whatever they like. You can always leave, no?

I think I was a little to harsh with them earlier, mainly because of the many controversies surrounding Italian leadership during WWII. For example it is thought that Mario Roatta wanted to commit a brutal genocide on Slovenians while on the other hand he saved many J**ish lives.

Still, maybe it's for the better if the grievances of the past stay in the past.

No that doesn't justify if I am an immigrant to treat me like they want. Come on that means that they can even shoot on every foreigner just because he passed its borders and he could be an immigrant and I'm just examining your statement.
