Kroje, sing. kroj (or sometimes ľudový odev) were and are called traditional costumes in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. They were wore by people in villages and (nowaday) small towns until cca second half of 20th century. But even nowaday you can find few villages when people (mostly elder generation) still wear kroje.
In Slovakia were in turn of the 19th and 20th century around 60 kroje variants and subvariants. Almost each village has it's own version of kroj, differentiated in embroidery/parts of costumes/hats/etc. They were influenced mostly by enviroment (from flat Danube lowlands to High Tatras), nearby living nationalities and availability of materials.
Roughly they can be divided according to traditional regions of Slovakia.

Just a note: There is no official division of traditional regions. As you maybe can see, on second map is northern part of Záhorie divided as Kopanice (sometimes called Myjava) and norther part of region Tekov divided as Pohronie. However on second and third map are regions Tatry and Zamagurie only part of region Spiš. On last map are Dolné, Stredné and Horné Považie connected in Považie, Horná and Dolná Nitra (or Horné and Dolné Ponitrie) in Ponitrie, and Horný and Dolný Zemplín in Zemplín, but western part of Podunajsko is divided as Žitný ostrov.
Velčice (Ponitrie) (notice that blouse is light blue, and not white, which is very unusual)
