    Hello,brotherly Slavs,

The other day I was just searching for pics in google for imageboards and such and then I stumbled upon the coat of arms of Ukraine. It looked very pretty for me at that time. The next moring as I was waking up,the symbol just appeared in my vision with a Gediminid symbol near it for a second.A chill ran down my back as the simmilarities were going through my mind.
Could there be any link between these two dynasties ? I remember reading somewhere that Gediminas had a distant cousin who was from the Rurikovich dynasty.Tell me I'm not crazy in seeing simmilarities in the two.
Here people call the Gediminid symbol "The Gediminid colums/towers" ,but some say it looks like an altar.

The similarities are indeed striking. Ukrainians/Ruthenians and Lithuanians have been in contact ever since, so I think that the existence of links between Rurikids and Gediminids is quite possible.

They were intermarring for centuries. Not really big secret. Gediminas himself had two wives from Rurikovichi, one from Polotsk other from Smolensk rulling dinasty.

Don't forget that the Dnieper is essentially connected to a tribute river in Lithuania, and it was the route which the Rus took to get to Kiev.

2009 year, in Pskov region (Russia) was found a suspension bracket of Rurikoviches. Instead of  third tooth, it has an image of key:

Ie Trident, according to the most likely interpretation, is a symbol of the origin of Vladimir Rurikovich from Svyatoslav and housekeeper Malusha, and third prong in it – the "servile" sign, which Vladimir but proudly included in his coat of arms.

The reverse side has another image – the falcon with a cross on his head. Scientists know only one such image – on a coin found in the treasure on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. According to archaeologists, it is a sign of Princess Olga, showing the belonging of suspension bracket to Pskov.

    Historic sign Rurik – bidentate.

However, the using of modified coat of arms of Rurikoviches by modern Ukraine doesn't mean any real connections between Ukraine and Ruthenia. This emblem was first used by Grushevskiy in 1917.

The following pictures are given just for information, I have no target to provoke anyone here.

In my opinion, if Grushevskiy so liked Cossacks and Sich, he could easily use their symbols and coats of arms:
