An apartment on 5th floor was caught on fire  in regional Russia.  A family of four was screaming for help from balcony. 15-20 neighbours and by-passers found a carpet asking the family to jump . Mum threw her 2 small children and jumped herself. Father jumped last but didn’t land well. He landed on the side of the carpet. He was taken to hospital having to get surgical operations on his spine having several fractures. The family is healthy and alive now.

What’s annoying is that fire-brigade was nearby watching because they didn’t have the ladder to reach the fifth floor.

Oh, that poor family!  :'(  I hope the father will be okay. I’m sure he will be unable to work for a long period. I wonder if there are good social supports in their community to help them rebuild their life? Bravo to the heroes who thought to use a carpet to save them!  :)

I read more news reports about this family. This happened a year ago. I wonder how they are doing today? The fire was started in the unit below them. A person was cooking pancakes and a fire broke out. One the children was an 11 month infant with a heart ailment. Do people have renter’s insurance in Russia? I hope so.

I like to watch videos of Eastern Euro villages and oblasts. I like to see how “regular” everyday people live. I like to watch videos of state and local government, school and community service projects. My favorite videos are from Volyn as it is my ancestral home base.

My grandfather would like this YT channel. Orthodoxy of Volyn.  :D

This girl could fit easily in the Ukrainian side of my family. She is from near my family’s district. I also think what Volyn Regional Employment Office is doing with video resumes is very innovative. I hope she finds a job as an English teacher. She seems like a lovely and intelligent person.

This girl form Horokhiv (my region) is looking for a job as an architect or designer.

Although the town is not far from Moscow (Vladimir region – just east of Moscow region). The incident happened in a  town and people in regional Russia usually don’t insure their estates, belongings or cars.

Because the incident received plenty of attention in media other people may have helped the family to rennovate their apartment bringing them clothes and other household items.
