    The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship opened with hosts Poland’s reaching a emphatic win over Serbia 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-18). The match marked the start of the 18th edition of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball Championship to be held from August 30 – September 21. The home team succeeded in bringing to their feet the amazing crowd that filled the National Football Stadium in Warsaw for the opening match on Saturday night, August 30. A world record of 62,000 spectators attended the event, including Polish President Bronislaw Kmorowski, topped the previous highest attendance which was 50,000 at the 1952 World Championship held in Moscow, Soviet Union.

    Game was played in Slavic friendly atmosphere. Polish respect for Serbian anthem!
