Roman Abramovich's representative denied the purchase of Sardina, talking to Croatian Times

Rumors were rife on Thursday on the Croatian island of Brac, that the lawyer for Russian billionaire and Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich was in town on a mission – to sign a lucrative deal to buy valuable land together with facilities at the "Sardina Postira" sardine factory in Postira on the central Dalmatian island. However, Ambramovich's representative has denied it to Croatian Times on Friday. "The rumours are entirely false", John Mann, head of the public relations for Millhouse has told to Croatian Times. He said there will be no purchase.
Sardina Postira recently expanding operations, building a new plant at their headquarters and admit that the former space is now up for sale.
"We are selling the space of the former factory, but we have yet to find a buyer for the land," said the Mislav Bezmalinovic, president of the board of Sardina Postira.
Sardina Postria has more than a century long tradition on Brac, forming in 1907 and produces up to 18 million tins of fish per year. With recent expansions, it is expected that the company will pack up to 5,000 tons of fish per year. 75 per cent of Sardina Postira's products are exported to the EU, Australia and Japan.
Bezmalinovic says they will sell the space of the former factory as soon as they find an investor, writes daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
"The Russian is not crazy, it is a perfect site to build a luxury hotel on," said a local resident as rumors circulated around the island on Thursday about Abramovich.
