Tesla fans push to save Shoreham laboratory

(08/17/12) SHOREHAM – There's a modern day effort to save the site of a landmark laboratory in Shoreham.

Nikola Tesla, who's considered the founder of wireless energy and creator of the original radio patents, worked from a lab in Shoreham, which was built in 1903. More than 100 years later, the Tesla Science Center is working to raise money to buy the lab property in order to begin a much-needed restoration.

If the group can raise $850,000, the state will match the amount, which would be enough to purchase and restore the 16-acre property.

Matthew Inman, a Seattle web comic and Tesla fan, heard the group's plight and began raising money for it. His blog has already raised more than $500,000 since it launched Wednesday.

Long Islanders who want to preserve the Tesla lab say they hope the donations keep coming in from the website to avoid the risk of anyone else buying the property first.

The worst part is that Edison was a hack who stole his worker's ideas and patented them first.  I live about three miles from the Menlo Park lab and monument to Edison and never even gone too see it.  In America at that time,  a Slav was barley considered white and Edison was given all the publicity

Not much has changed still… Now you have to hide your a Slav or you're still considered an evil Commie or backward arse person with no morals or manners.

I read Christian Bale is going to play Tesla in the upcoming movie, named 'Tesla, Ruler of the World'.

This man is still utterly unknown in Italy. They only mention him briefly while studying magnetic induction. In fact their main energetic company is named "Edison Casa".

Well, regardless of what the West thinks of him, he was a great man.

I think if you google it, you will see a computer geek donated a large amount to save this site.
