Skopje and Belgrade built “special relationship”

While Macedonian relations with Greece, Bulgaria and most recently Albania are virtually ‘on ice’ in Belgrade bloom and more than cordial. So it is all of 2006 when the government came VMRO-DPMNE, “conclude analysts.

Aleksandar Vucic and Minister Nikola Gruevski ” Skopje 2014 ‘Vardar” + “Belgrade on water” = peanuts “or” Serbia got Gruevski squared “part of comments on social networks in Macedonia after beating Aleksandar Vucic of the presidential elections in Serbia. The authors obviously like to say that there is no difference between populism reigns in Macedonia and its northern neighbor. However, their views remain in the shadow of the letter that the President of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, sent to the new Serbian counterpart. It expressed satisfaction with development of bilateral relations and confidence that together contribute to an even more successful collaboration in building good neighborly relations, regional stability and integration. “The traditional friendship, historical and especially interpersonal relationships are a huge potential that should joint efforts to put into operation to strengthen mutual trust and intensifying overall cooperation. Allow me, Mr. Vucic them to you the assurances of my highest consideration, “said the note from the President.

Why do you call yourself Срби? In eastern Slavia you are known as Сербы. Lusatian Serbs call themselves  ‘Serby’. Lusatian Serbs are one most ancient Slavic tribe.

I think it has to do with reform of Serbian language in period of Vuk Karadzic. Old Serbian anthem Vostani Serbije said we used to call ourselves different.

“Vostani Serbije” is not Serbian at all – it’s in Slavo-Serbian language.

In original there was a “ь”: Сьрбъі.
In Eastern Slavia, “ь” as a vowel became “е”:
    пьсъ -> пес
    вьсь -> весь
    отьць –> отец
    etc.

So, originally, there were no “e”.

    Compare:
    Czech: Srbové
    Slovak: Srbi
    Slovenian: Srbi
    Macedonian: Срби
    Bulgarian:

Well I’m not linguist and I don’t care too much about it, I just pointed out Vostani Serbije was national anthem of our 18th century principality and the language there had letter “e” in between of “S” and “r”.

But the language of the song is not Serbian at all. It’s not how Serbs spoke, in any century. It’s a Russian-Serbian mix which the higher classes used as a literary, and not spoken language. There is an “e” there because of the Russian influence. The language they spoke was more Russian than Serbian.

In Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian Serbs are known Serby – Сербы/Серби. Lusatian Sorbs identify themselves Serby (Сербы) too. Poles call Serbs Serbowie.

The Tale of Bygone years compiled in Kiev in 1113 by monk Nestor named Serbs Serby too. The  chronicle mentioned Serby, White Croats , Khorutane (Corinthians ancestors of Slovenes), Bulgarians. Bosniaks, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Croats were not mentioned among southern Slavs. White Croats were mentioned who lived in what is present day Transcarpathia – western Ukraine.

The source is one of the earliest Slavic chronicle – The Tale of Bygone Years.

The Tale of Past Years (Old East Slavic: Повѣсть времѧньныхъ лѣтъ, Pověstĭ Vremęnĭnyhŭ Lětŭ) or Primary Chronicle is a history of Kievan Rus’ from about 850 to 1110, originally compiled in Kiev about 1113. The work is considered to be a fundamental source in the interpretation of the history of the Eastern Slavs.

is what the reconstructed original text of the Primary Chronicle says. Also the edition of Шахматов (1916) says the same.

Here’s the comparison from all of the versions (α is the reconstructed original):

Anyway, even if the original said “сербь”, it still wouldn’t make much difference, because the Chronicle is in Old East Slavic. One of the characteristics of the Old East Slavic, as I said before is the ь → е:

Does it really matter? Before we used to say “Sloveni” for Slavs, now we say “Slavyani” for Slavs – languages change.

@MegaArgus01 What do I need to prove? That’s a fact and anyone who tries to deny it is an ignorant idiot. It’s been proven dozen of times.

хървати бѣлии are white Croats who lived in what is today Transcarpathia (Uzhorod) – western Ukraine right next to Slovakia and Hungary.

    >сьрбь is transliterated Serb in Latin. Only Bulgarian language, possibly Macedonian keep “ъ” – short ‘a’ sound. Belarusian also had this sound in past.
