Stari Grad celebrates being nearly 3,000 years old

    image

Town hall bosses in Stari Grad have marked the town’s 2,936th birthday by organising cultural festivals and handing out awards to locals who have contributed to its cultural and social life.
And with just four years to go before the Hvar town hits 3,000 years old, officials are also making preparations for a big party to celebrate.
Originally named Faros by the Greek settlers from the island of Paros who arrived in 384 BC, Stari Grad is one of the oldest towns in the Adriatic.
