    10 Reasons to Drink Water

    1. Water is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival. A person can live for about a month without food, but only about a week without water.

    2. Water helps to maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite.

    3. Water leads to increased energy levels. The most common cause of daytime fatigue is actually mild dehydration.

    4. Drinking adequate amounts of water can decrease the risk of certain types of cancers, including colon cancer, bladder cancer, and breast cancer.

    5. For a majority of sufferers, drinking water can significantly reduce joint and/or back pain.

    6. Water leads to overall greater health by flushing out wastes and bacteria that can cause disease.

    7. Water can prevent and alleviate headaches.

    8. Water naturally moisturizes skin and ensures proper cellular formation underneath layers of skin to give it a healthy, glowing appearance.

    9. Water aids in the digestion process and prevents constipation.

    10. Water is the primary mode of transportation for all nutrients in the body and is essential for proper circulation.
    ________

Do you drink water only? I mostly do. Sometimes I drink mineral waters (only the Slovak original ones) or Vinea that is a (real) grape nonalcoholic popular & original Slovak drink. I refuse all of those coca-colas and unnatural juices and I usually buy local drinks abroad (because drinking from water faucets is often not recommended).

I drink water from water faucets in Slovakia or in Central Europe at least, because we've got a high-quality water (of course, the best water is in pure nature.. while walking through the wood, I usually drink water from the brooks :P). Btw. Slovakia's got the biggest reserve of drinking-water in Central Europe – that's why they need us in the EU and the NATO. The UN even proposed to establish something like United Nations-governed entity within Slovakia's 'sovereign' territory (just like it was in Kosovo!). The biggest reserves are located in south-west Slovakia, so if the UN or whoever else will decide in future to found the UN-administration in Slovakia, you can be sure, they will provoke a conflict between Slovakia and Hungary because of the Magyar minority living there. Of course, this will be just a pretext, the real reason will be the water.

So, what's the drinking-water in your countries like? Do you like it? Does your governments recommend to people drinking it?
Slovakia's Ministry of Health made few spots to support drinking the water from water faucets.

Although some people don't believe it, the water in Novi Sad s good and safe, but unfortunately I can't say that for the rest of Serbia. As far as I know, it varies. I can't say anything for water in Serbia in general. Normally I drink tap water, but I do drink juices as well. I drink mostly clear juices, but not rarely I drink cola and stuff as well.

Water is great an all, but i'm getting bored of it. While training in gym and in general doing some physical work or practice i tend to drink a lot as i have to regain the fluid i lost during the training…so i don't enjoy it that much anymore  :D

Svätoslava, did you know too much water consumption during the day can actually kill you?

I drink several glasses of water every day. It really does keep one regular, even though, yes, it gets boring.

What means too much? 10l? 20l? :) Too much of whatever can do bad feelings to a human, e. g. a death as you pointed out :D

Here are 9 more reasons to drink water :

    Weight loss
Water is one of the best tools for weight loss, first of all because it often replaces high-calorie drinks like soda and juice and alcohol with a drink that doesn't have any calories. But it's also a great appetite suppressant, and often when we think we're hungry, we're actually just thirsty. Water has no fat, no calories, no carbs, no sugar. Drink plenty to help your weight-loss regimen.

    Heart healthy
Drinking a good amount of water could lower your risks of a heart attack. A six-year study published in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that those who drink more than 5 glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses.

    Energy
Being dehydrated can sap your energy and make you feel tired — even mild dehydration of as little as 1 or 2 percent of your body weight. If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated — and this can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and other symptoms.

    Headache cure
Another symptom of dehydration is headaches. In fact, often when we have headaches it's simply a matter of not drinking enough water. There are lots of other causes of headaches of course, but dehydration is a common one.

    Healthy skin
Drinking water can clear up your skin and people often report a healthy glow after drinking water. It won't happen overnight, of course, but just a week of drinking a healthy amount of water can have good effects on your skin.

    Digestive problems
Our digestive systems need a good amount of water to digest food properly. Often water can help cure stomach acid problems, and water along with fiber can cure constipation (often a result of dehydration).

    Cleansing
Water is used by the body to help flush out toxins and waste products from the body.

    Cancer risk
Related to the digestive system item above, drinking a healthy amount of water has also been found to reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%. Drinking lots of water can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer by 50% and potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer.

    Better exercise
Being dehydrated can severely hamper your athletic activities, slowing you down and making it harder to lift weights. Exercise requires additional water, so be sure to hydrate before, during and after exercise.

    So bottoms up  ;).

When my stomach feels sick and I have to vomit, I do following:
    1. I prepare a bottle (0,5 l) or a big glass of water and go to toilet.
    2. I drink it. At once.
    3. Stomach reacts within few seconds.  ;D
    4. I repeat.
    5. After 10-15 minutes of repeating, my stomach has gotten rid of toxins/acidity.
    6. I wait another 15-20 minutes (listening to soft music really helps)
    7. I drink another bottle/glass to test if stomach is really okay.
    8. I everything works, I am done.

Instead of spending all night in sickness I am done in 20 – 30 minutes usually  ;D

By the way, I do not drink mineral waters if it is possible, because water in our well is strongly mineralized (especially with Calcium). Actually most waters in Slovakia are very mineralized.

You people have no idea how much water I drink. None. I am a hired hand and a weight lifter, so it's almost constant depending on the work.

Water is the essence of life also in that it is the main thing in food production… be it crops or cattle, they need water!

Much of the crazy shit in the Middle East boils down to controlling water supplies.

Here is a good article about the positive effects of water:

Water prevents and helps to cure heartburn.
Heartburn is a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body. The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage.
Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach and duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.

Water prevents and helps to cure arthritis.
Rheumatoid joint pain – arthritis – is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old. The use of pain-killers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications. Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.

Water prevents and helps to cure back pain.
Low back pain and ankylosing arthritis of the spine are signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs – the water cushions that support the weight of the body. These conditions should be treated with increased water intake – not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one.

Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with pain-killers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis when the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died. It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life-threatening complications.

Water prevents and helps to cure angina.
Heart pain – angina – is a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis. It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications. Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake is angina's cure.

Water prevents and helps to cure migraines.
Migraine headache is a sign of water need by the brain and the eyes. It will totally clear up if dehydration is prevented from establishing in the body. The type of dehydration that causes migraine might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eye sight.

Water prevents and helps to cure colitis.
Colitis pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze the last drop of water from the excrements – thus the lack of water lubrication.

Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation. Later in life, it will cause fecal impacting: it can cause diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and polyps, and appreciably increases the possibility of developing cancer of the colon and rectum.

Water and salt prevent and helps to cure asthma.
Asthma, which also affects 14 million children and kills several thousand of them every year, is a complication of dehydration in the body. It is caused by the drought management programs of the body. In asthma free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor – the winter steam. Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs that obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs.

Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in the body of a growing child not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year, but will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining 14 million asthmatic children.

Water prevents and helps to cure high blood pressure.
Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels that diffuse water into vital cells. As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the blood serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the "injection process." Just as we inject I.V. "water" in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time. Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal!

Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain. It will cause heart attacks and small or massive strokes that paralyze. It will eventually cause kidney disease. It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Water prevents and helps to cure early adult-onset diabetes.
Adult-onset diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water. Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages.

Not recognizing adult-onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration will, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body. It will cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene. It will cause eye damage, even blindness.

    Water lowers blood cholesterol.
High cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body. Cholesterol is a clay-like material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them against losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity. Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a "shield" against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.
