I’ve noticed hats like these on men in several pictures of Czech traditional dress, mostly on Chodsko, but also Tabor as well. Any of you helpful honkies have a remote clue as to what they’re called?

It reminds me a bit of a kalpak/kołpak.

I’m searching, but what I’ve found so far is that it’s named vydrovka, which indicates only the material it’s made of. Vydra means otter.
It means that vydrovka could be any hat made of otter fur no matter what shape it would be.
I’ll let you know when I get more info.

It’s made of 4 to 6 pieces of green velvet with a tassel made of silk on the top. The fur on the edges doesn’t have to be necessarily otter, today it’s mainly made of fake fur.

    @”Kapitán Denis”

Thanks, man! I’ve seen a bunch of furry/felt/fuzzy hats worn by the Slavs, Caucasians, etc. Is this one exclusive to the Czechs? And if so, is it only known in Chodsko?

@texczech82 I have no idea. When it comes to folk costumes, I don’t know much about them, but I’ve never seen this hat as part of any Slovak costumes. It’s possible that in the past similar hats could have been worn by regular people here, but I don’t know… You should ask some folk costumes expert. :D

I like the folk clothing, not sure I would wear it unless I want to impress a woman  :D

But in all seriousness, I like the Ushanka, they look great, especially with Army clothing and an AK47.  Bad-ass.

But this version is a bit confusing though?

When I googled “Czech fur hat” the ushanka is all that came up!

As for the Obama one, people who hated him often called him a communist or a Nazi. Or the antichrist. Or a gay, pedophilic, vampire-lizard-alien.
