Necroposter in the thread. In Russian, we have “око” as an archaism, here is a saying “око за око” what’s literally means “eye for an eye”.

From Old East Slavic глазъ (glazŭ, “ball, eye”), from Proto-Slavic *glazъ (“ball”), from Proto-Indo-European *g(ʰ)el- (“round, spherical, stone”).

Russian also has око and it is a well-known albeit not a commonly used word. We do prefer glaz.
