Production Of Slavic Decorated Zhostovo Trays

Zhostovo craft originated in the early XIX century, when a number of suburban towns and villages of the former Trinity Parish (now Chekhov district, Moscow region) had workshops for the manufacturing of painted lacquer that ware made of paper. The emergence of Zhostovo tray associated with the name of the brothers Vishnjakovs. Starting from the 30s of the XIX century the production of the original production in the surrounding villages has increased significantly and with time it became a trend. There were first metal trays, decorative flower painting, which gradually replaced the snuff and other “paper” local crafts workshops. The famous painting is usually made on a black background (sometimes red, blue, green, silver). The main motive of the painting – floral bouquet, in which alternating large and small garden of wildflowers.
